On-Screen Keyboard in Windows 7

You don’t have to rely on the physical keyboard to type and enter data anymore, you can use On-Screen Keyboard. On-Screen Keyboard displays a visual keyboard with all the standard keys. You can select keys using the mouse or another pointing device, or you can use a single key or group of keys to cycle through the keys on the screen.This is how is to be done: Start | All Program | Accessories | Ease of Access | On Screen Keyboard

4. Once you click On-Screen Keyboard:

Remember you’ll still be able to use your keyboard.

How to enter information into On-Screen Keyboard

1. Click Options, under To use the On-Screen Keyboard, go ahead and select the mode you want to use:

Typing mode Description
Click on keys
In clicking mode, you have to click on screen to type text.
Hover over keys
In hovering mode, using a mouse or joystick to point to a key for a predetermined period of time, and the character you selected is automatically type.
Scan through keys
In scanning mode, it scans continually the keyboard and highlights areas where you can type different keyboards characters by pressing a keyboard shortcut, using a switch input device, or using a device simulating a mouse click.

How to set audible clicks:

1. Click on Options key

2. In the Options windows: Select click sound or turn on numeric key pad or both.

How to enable text prediction:

1. Open On-Screen Keyboard.

2. Click Options, go ahead and select Use Text Prediction box and click OK.

Note:

*The text prediction is only available in English, German, Italian, and Spanish. If you want another language you must first install the additional language files for that language.

* Text prediction is not included in Windows 7 Home Basic.

This On-Screen Keyboard is amazing, go ahead and give ti a try. If you like it go ahead and pin it to your task bar. Just after you see in you program list, right click it and click pin to task bar.
